A simple soft silicone implant can made a dramatic difference in facial profile. A weak or under developed chin will exaggerate fullness in the neck and is one aspect of the face that unfortunately is sometimes tied to a person's character. The chin defines the character of the face; a long chin has been associated with strength and power, whereas a short chin suggests weakness.
Cheek implants impart a classic desirable feature that signifies not only youth, but a refined and more friendly and healthy appearance.
Flattened cheeks are easily redefined with a cheek implant, inserted through the interior of the mouth to eliminate scars and allow for precise positioning over the natural cheek bone.
Both men and women can have "weak" or small receding chins. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will balance a profile, create symmetry, add an appearance of strength and capability and will have an immediate contouring effect on the entire lower jaw line. For patients who have a larger nose, a chin implant will visually alter the nose size, making it appear smaller and more proportionate to your face.

Your chin implant is easily placed with a single minimal incision. It is inserted through a small incision under the chin which is hidden in the natural crease and shadow area. To begin the procedure, Dr. Sikorski makes an incision along a pre-marked line beneath your chin. Then she will carefully create a small pocket below the muscle layer, just above your jawbone so the implant can be placed in front of your chin. This pocket will hold the chin implant.
Chin implant surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or may be part of other selected surgical procedures choices such as a necklift or facelift.

Chin implants are pliable and feel similar to natural tissue so once in place, they are indiscernible from a natural chin. Their pliability allows them to be inserted through a small opening so incisions are quite short. Dr. Sikorski will insert and carefully position the sterile implant, ensuring a tension-free fit inside the pocket. The implant position is carefully inspected from all angles and if need be, any necessary adjustments are made. |
The pocket is closed with small sutures. Lastly, small bandages in combination with a compression bandage may be applied to provide comfort and support.
Dr. Sikorski takes into account your entire facial proportions in determining the size and shape of your chin implant. It is crucial to select the right size, make an accurate and smooth trim and place the implant "pocket" in the right location. A precisely placed chin implant will look completely natural and be very comfortable. Chin implants are made from silicone – used for facial implants for nearly 50 years.
Swelling after the procedure may cause the skin to appear a little shiny at first, but it will subside within a couple of weeks. As the swelling resolve the area of the implant will soften and will look even more natural.
Your muscle movement should not be affected. The implants are placed so that they are unlikely to shift, and the tissue surrounding the implants will stretch to comfortably accommodate them over the following months.
Scars are hidden in creases or in areas where they are difficult to detect, and they will fade considerably over time, making them almost imperceptible.
With a chin implant you can achieve the shape, definition, and contours that you have always wanted.
Prominent and high cheekbones create a refined, polished look. When cheeks lie flat the mid-section of the face can appear plump, even when you are average weight. A cheek implant lifts the mid face and catches light. Also referred to as malar implants, cheek implants are permanent. Removal by surgery is possible, but the implants themselves are designed to last a lifetime.
Cheek implants are fit into the cheek area inside a "pocket" made through the gum line of the upper jaw and secured to overlay the existing cheek bone, enhancing your natural facial contours.

Once an implant is in place, Dr. Sikorski will verify that it looks natural and balanced, making any necessary adjustments. The incisions inside your mouth are closed with dissolvable sutures. Cheek implant surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or may be part of other selected surgical procedures choices such as a necklift or facelift. |

The healing process for a cheek implant surgery is quite minimal compared to most other cosmetic surgeries. There is no external skin incision and the incisions inside the mouth heal very quickly. One week should be sufficient for most patients to feel confident in public.
