Chemical Peels in Orange County

Chemical peels can provide a dramatic improvement in the appearance and condition of your skin. The treatment is well established, effective, and customizable to your needs.

Chemical peels in Orange County are one of the many cosmetic dermatology procedures we offer to help patients refresh their appearance by removing dead cells and impurities from the surface of the skin. Peeling away the aged superficial layer unveils healthy-looking new skin and can reduce or eliminate sun damage, uneven tone, blemishes, and fine wrinkles.

Dr. Lenore Sikorski has more than 20 years of experience as a board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon. As part of your treatment with Natural Image OC, she can identify the concerns that are affecting your skin and provide a variety of solutions, including chemical peels, to achieve your aesthetic goals.

An Overview of Chemical Peels

Natural Image OC utilizes a broad range of chemical peels because different patients benefit from various approaches. In evaluating your needs, we consider:

  • Your skin type: Whether you have normal, oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin will affect your treatment.
  • Dermatology concerns: Chemical peels can improve acne scarring, blackheads/ whiteheads, freckling, and blotchy pigmentation, but this improvement depends on choosing the right solution.
  • Intensity: Patients who receive chemical peels may prefer to be away from work and social settings while they heal. As a result, more intensive peels may require more downtime.

Dr. Sikorski can discuss these factors in your initial consultation. During your visit, she will conduct a comprehensive examination of your skin, discuss what you want to accomplish, and advise a course of action. If you are a good candidate for chemical peels in Orange County, Dr. Sikorski will prepare your individual treatment plan, and our certified physician’s assistant will apply the peel.

Chemical Peel Options

The chemical peels that Natural Image OC offers patients are safe and effective. However, they vary in the areas they target, their strength, and the ingredients they use. In general, superficial peels can improve tone and pigmentation, while more intensive treatments address deep textural concerns.

TCA Peels

TCA peels are high-strength chemical peels that use trichloroacetic acid to reduce the appearance of blemishes, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and pre-cancerous lesions.

Beta Peels

Beta hydroxy acid products are suited to sensitive skin. They are less-intensive solutions that can provide improvement without irritation. Beta peels are particularly helpful for patients prone to blemishes and blackheads.

Jessner Peels

The Jessner peel includes ingredients that penetrate and exfoliate the skin. It helps remove layers of dead skin cells, inhibit acne and blackheads, reduce fine lines and the appearance of scars, and lighten hyperpigmentation.

Illuminize Peel®

Dr. Sikorski may recommend Illuminize to address mild skin imperfections and to brighten the appearance of your features. A salicylic acid-based product from Skin Medica®, Illuminize is a gentle treatment that is appropriate for patients who are having chemical peels for the first time and who have mild skin care needs.

Vitalize Peel®

If you have mild-to-moderate skin imperfections, including fine lines and wrinkles, Vitalize can smooth away these features for a younger and healthier appearance. The product is part of the same Skin Medica family of solutions as Illuminize but offers a more intensive treatment.

Rejuvenize Peel®

The third chemical peel we offer from Skin Medica, Rejuvenize addresses wrinkles and other signs of aging for patients with moderate-to-severe concerns. The treatment can also improve acne scarring and changes in pigment.

Salicylic Acid Peels

The Salicylic Acid peels are great for treating acne, either alone or in combination with extractions.

Your Experience with Chemical Peels

Patients may receive treatment on the same day as their initial consultation or on a follow-up visit depending on their needs and scheduling. Most people in Laguna Niguel tolerate chemical peels well, and the certified physician’s assistant who conducts your treatment can offer guidelines for making your experience as comfortable as possible.

While different chemical peels require different care, here is the typical process of our Trichloroacetic Peels (TCA):

  • Immediately after the peel, we will apply iced saline to treated areas and an ointment to help your skin retain moisture.
  • When you leave the practice, your skin will appear somewhat red, similar to a sunburn. Within 24 hours, the color should fade, and the skin will begin to feel tight in the treated areas.
  • The outermost layer of skin will peel over the next few days to unveil younger-looking, smoother skin. Lighter peels usually have minimal peeling.
  • Patients should avoid sun exposure during this time.

Our practice can advise you about the effective ways to manage common effects of treatment, such as sensitivity or irritation. By the time you have healed completely, you should see a significant improvement in the appearance and texture of your skin. Whether your goal is to clear up blemishes or to reduce lines and wrinkles, Natural Image OC can provide a solution suited to your needs.
