When many of our patients discover that we offer one of the most elite and well-respected med spas, they often assume that we mean a day spa. However, there are some very big differences between the two. So in this blog post, we’ll look at what the differences are between a day spa and a med spa. Patients who are interested in getting firm, tight, and youthful-looking skin should make sure to contact us today. You can also take a look through our patient gallery of before and after pictures to get an idea of the kind of world-class results that our patients enjoy.
Day Spa versus Med Spa
Patients are usually very familiar with the services offered at a day spa. Usually, day spas are intended to help you relax and help you improve your appearance and skin through massages, acupuncture, nail and hair services, and topical treatments. The services they offer typically include:
- Massages (hot stone, deep tissue, )
- Nail treatment (manicures and pedicures)
- Facials and masks (seaweed, clay)
- Hair services
Now when it comes to a med spa, patients should notice one huge difference: a medical spa needs to have at least one doctor there during operating hours. So while a day spa does not need to have any medical staff, a med spa absolutely does. On top of that, medical spas are directed and supervised by doctors and are also located inside registered medical facilities.
But there is also another big difference. While a day spa is intended to help you relax, a medical spa is intended to complete your treatment plan. We always do our best to make sure our patients are comfortable, but we’re here to give you the absolute best possible medical treatment. Those treatment services often include:
- Laser skin resurfacing.
- Laser hair removal.
- Liquid facelift (Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, Juvederm, Sculptra, Kybella, and more).
- Surgical facelifts.
- Skin cancer screenings.
- Hydrafacials
