About Blepharoplasty
Opening up the face with eyelift surgery (Blepharoplasty) removes the look of fatigue, enlarges the eyes and restores the primary focal point of the face. Usually the first and most dramatic signs of aging of the face are seen in the eye area. Excess skin of the upper eyelids and puffy bags of the lower eyelids create the upper eyelid “hoods” and make the eyes appear smaller. Aging skin becomes loose and begins to sag. This becomes quite noticeable around the eyes as eyelids have the thinnest skin on your body. Fatty tissue under the lower eyelid skin begins to protrude outward, causing “bags” under the eyes and consequential dark hollows. This creates a tired, aged look despite the fact that many patients are not tired and are usually younger than they appear. Sun exposure also leads to a loss of elasticity and causes even more sagging or wrinkling.“I’ve been fortunate to have had many years of arts training, which has taught me critically important fine points in facial balance subtleties and how to create them in delicate areas such as the eye. Being able to bring those skills into my surgery for the benefit of my patients leaves us both very pleased with the outcome”, says Dr. Sikorski.
Too much skin removal during an upper eyelid blepharoplasty and you may look startled and unnatural. Dr. Sikorski implements a subtle technique which allows your eyes to maintain a natural harmonious balance with the rest of your face while looking younger, rested and more alert.
